The Bureau of Labor Statistics includes four IT careers in their list of the top 10 fastest-growing occupations. For people who love working with computers, job security is just one of the perks of a career in the high-tech industry.

Careers in the information technology industry are as different as the people who love them. Applications and systems software engineers build technology from the ground up, while network and systems analysts take existing technology and improve its efficiency. Regardless of their focus, IT professionals are valued at all levels of business, from local companies to multi-national organizations.

Companies in the IT industry are often known for their employee satisfaction rates--CNNMoney recently ranked Google #1 on their list of Best Companies to Work For. Google's employees enjoy 11 free gourmet cafeterias on their Mountain View campus, where lunch might include roasted black bass with parsley pesto.

Getting in with a top company like Google requires the right training, and employees are expected to stay abreast of new and emerging technology. IT is an evolving field and the right employees are willing to grow and change with technology.
