More Workers Dissatisfied with Jobs

It's not news we wanted to hear, but according to the Conference Board, a business think tank, Americans are growing increasingly unhappy with their jobs. The decline in job satisfaction is widespread among workers of all ages and across all income brackets.

In the report, only half of all Americans say they are satisfied with their jobs, down from nearly 60 percent in 1995. But among the 50 percent who say they are satisfied in their jobs, only 14 percent say they are "very satisfied."

Technical Changes to Blame

According to Lynn Franco, Director of the Conference Board's Consumer Research Center, "rapid technological changes, rising productivity demands and changing employee expectations have all contributed to the decline in job satisfaction."

There is no question that life in the work place has changed remarkably in recent years. Computer technology, for one, has made work unlike anything it was before.

Technical Training Can Help

Though we might wish that employers would better help us through this new maze of technical requirements, mostly we have to rely on ourselves. Thankfully, adult education schools offer all sorts of technical training courses to help fill in the gaps of knowledge, making the working world easier to navigate.

Technical Training Courses Boost Confidence

Technical training courses can involve everything from the hidden secrets of word processing programs to introductory aviation mechanics courses. You may have realized that, sadly, many employers today don't feel particularly responsible for providing technical training to their employees. Luckily, you can gain expertise and much-needed job confidence with a technical training course.
