What makes a career satisfying? For many people, it's the chance to express themselves creatively and use their imagination. The Wall Street Journal recently published an article about the country's most satisfying jobs--and it turns out that marketing and advertising managers are some of the happiest workers in the country.

Preparing for Your Career in Marketing and Advertising

You can get started on most careers in marketing and advertising with a bachelor's degree in marketing. The U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) reports that internships are also becoming more and more important for early career success. With your bachelor's degree in marketing, you can work in an entry-level job as a marketing assistant or associate, but if you want to advance to higher management positions, earning your master's degree in business administration (MBA) can give you a big advantage. Look for MBA programs that offer a marketing emphasis.

Working as a Marketing or Advertising Manager

Marketing and advertising managers oversee staff and develop advertising and marketing strategies for their clients. They often work long hours, including some evenings and weekends, to meet their project deadlines, but are also paid very well. According to the BLS, advertising managers make an average of $63,610 per year and marketing managers can earn $87,640 per year.

If you want a creative, exciting career that offers high job satisfaction, consider marketing or advertising.
