Career Perks Keep Accountants Happy and Prosperous

By Joe Cooper

Little known benefits of accounting careers have accountants glad they chose the field. Accounting degrees are growing in popularity, thanks in part to government and industry predictions that the field will grow faster than average by 2014.

An Accounting Career Pays

An accounting degree can get you much more than a job these days - it can get you a good job. The starting salary for graduates with an accounting degree was $43,000 two years ago, according to the US Bureau of Labor Statistics, and the average salary was over $50,000, taking it well above the national average.

Industry professionals with years of experience say that good pay is just one of the perks of an accounting career that isn't widely known. Job variety is another.

An Accounting Career Offers Variety

All types of accounting jobs are available to graduates with accounting degrees. Here are some examples of accounting jobs that might be in your future:
  • Budget Analyst
  • Loan Officer
  • Auditing Clerk
  • Financial Adviser
  • Tax Accountant
  • Bookkeeper

Earn an Online Accounting Degree Today

An accounting degree is the first step in an accounting career; nearly all accounting jobs require an education. An online degree carries accreditation just like an on-campus degree, but an online degree can be earned at your own pace, and usually costs less. An online degree is one excellent choice if you're interested in a finance-related career.
